'Titanic Memorial, Saint Mary's Church Southampton'

This is a sample panel created for the Stevens Competition 2016.  The brief was to produce a design for a memorial window dedicated to the crew of the RMS Titanic.  As the city’s mother and civic church, St Mary’s was chosen as the venue for Southampton’s first memorial service after the disaster. In 2012 it commemorated the centenary of the disaster at which the Bishop of New York preached and six hundred attended, some connected to those who survived and perished with it.

To be able to produce a design for such a moving event and for something which will be remembered by the city of Southampton forever was such an honour.  Ultimately my design was not chosen for the commission but I was humbled to have been involved.  You can read my artistic statement that accompanied my entry explaining the different aspects and motivation behind my design in the second picture below.
